Choosing Your DJ Equipment

By Irvin G. Santos

Maybe you have always dreamed of becoming a DJ or maybe this is a decision that you have come to after realizing the money that can be made from it. Either way, when you start to look around for DJ equipment, you want to make sure that you are getting the most for your money without spending too much. You want to save money on the purchase of the equipment but you have to make sure that it is quality equipment so that you have a chance at getting more jobs and more money.

Usually, DJ equipment is extremely expensive. When looking at brand new equipment you are probably looking to spend thousands of dollars. By shopping only for gently used DJ equipment you will be able to save an incredible amount of money. You will also not have to worry about going broke before you even get started. Once the ball gets rolling and more jobs come your way you can upgrade to new equipment.

Not only do those on a budget have to be careful but even someone with a lot of money should start with gently used DJ equipment. This way, if you find that the DJ career is not all that you thought it was cracked up to be, you are not out thousands of dollars. But no matter what you spend on the DJ equipment, you should have no problem selling the equipment in order to get back the money that you spent on the equipment.

To get started on purchasing gently used DJ equipment you will want to start looking online. There are many places online that could have DJ equipment for sale. Online classifieds are the best place to start. Within these ads you will most likely find some people who tried their hand at the career and found that they just did not have the skill or the business mentality to make it work. You can take advantage of their misfortune by purchasing their used DJ equipment.

Something that you want to keep in mind though is that you will probably want to kind someone who is selling their equipment locally. Think of how heavy all of the equipment can be. If you tried to have everything shipped you are going to be looking at a good bit of money just in shipping expenses alone. Of course if you are getting one incredible deal on the used DJ equipment then it is worth it.

If at all possible though, even if there is something cheaper elsewhere, a seller that can meet you in person is always best. Meeting in person will allow you the chance to check out the equipment and make sure that you are not being taken advantage of.

In the end, when purchasing DJ equipment you need to make sure that you are staying within your spending budget and that you are getting equipment that really works. Ask the seller for a warranty for at least a month. This allows you plenty of time to make sure that it works properly for you. Sellers that want to avoid warranties and that do not want you testing the equipment should be avoided. - 23806

The Beatles: Seven Piano Based Classic Songs

By Jason R. Bohener

Maybe it's because Paul McCartney loved Little Richard that he played piano in some of The Beatles tunes but unlike Little Richard, The Beatles usually used piano for ballads (although there is "Lady Madonna" which is certainly not a ballad.) This article is a look at seven Beatles songs which feature a piano as the main rhythmic & harmonic instrument.

"Hey Jude" is definitely a classic. It was a huge hit single all around the world in 1968 and now in 2009 it remains one of The Beatles best known and loved songs. It's length (over 7 minutes) was groundbreaking at the time and for many years it was the longest #1 single of all time in both the UK & US.

"Let It Be" is currently the most played Beatles song according to the Last.FM music site. Obviously this is a song that has a timeless quality to it. The piano part that McCartney plays for this song is quite simple and I think that's part of it's charm. Another great element of this beautiful song is the gorgeous guitar solo by George Harrison.

"The Long & Winding Road" is a song that divides listeners more than the almost universally loved "Hey Jude" & "Let It Be." Many people find this one a bit too "schmaltzy" but I think that's primarily due to the overblown production put on the original release by Phil Spector (who did so without Paul McCartney's approval.) Check out the stripped down version on the 2003 Let It Be... Naked album to hear what Paul's original version for the song was.

"For No One" is a very beautiful ballad from Revolver. Along with the piano, it also features a french horn and a harpsichord. The Beatles were always looking for new sounds to try on their recordings. This song is less well known than it should be. Those of you who only have The Beatles "greatest hits" compilations are really missing out on some of their greatest work. Buy the albums!

"The Fool on the Hill" is such a great song. I think part of what makes it so great is that it's hard to pinpoint exactly what kind of song it is. Plus there's the flutes. You can't go wrong with flutes like that.

"Lady Madonna" was another hit song based on the piano (it hit #1 in the UK in the US) for The Beatles. I would say it's amazing how many of The Beatles piano based songs became hits but really that's just par for the course for them. And, oh yeah, the melody for this song became a hit again in the 1990s for the band Sublime ("What I Got.")

"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" is a great example of how much The Beatles relied on McCartney's bass guitar to define their sound. Yes the song makes use of a piano (which is why it's on this list) but really it's the bass guitar that pushes the song forward and gives it much of it's personality. - 23806

Choosing A Guitar Amp

By Frank Frederics

Everybody likes music and if you are a guitar player you want that the sound that is produced that your electric or acoustic guitar have the quality you want. The sound of the quality is determined in first place by the quality of the instrument and in second place by the amplification equipment you have.

For this purpose, you need a good guitar amp. Choosing a guitar amp is not a difficult task, and the only thing you need to know are some basic tips that will help you to get the perfect guitar amp.

There are several types of guitar amps and all of them have different level of power, equalization and other important features that will help you to produce a different and more powerful, less powerful sound.

If you have a simple electric acoustic guitar and you are going to play your guitar indoor in a place that don't require a large place, you can use a small guitar amp that can cost about $100 or less. There are different brands but I don't want to talk about brands. For choosing a guitar amp the most important thing is select a good brand and test your instrument in the shop you purchase your guitar amp.

There are a couple of options you can test in the same place you are attempting to purchase the guitar amp. Also there is a special guitar amp of bass guitars. Bass guitar require a stronger guitar amp in capacity and you never should connect a bass guitar in a simple guitar amp because it could cause problem to your equipment.

I highly recommend that you ask to the seller the guitar amps that are specially designed for electric guitars in the case you have an electric guitar. - 23806

Top Thriller Movies

By Sh Flynn

I'm a huge fan of all movies, particularly thrillers, and over the years I must of seen hundreds. My chooses for the top 10 thrillers range from some of the old classics, to some of the newer titles.

How well do you know your thriller movies? Lets see if you can guess the quote from my Top 10 thriller movies

1) Look at it this way. A man takes a job, you know? And that job - I mean, like that - That becomes what he is. You know, like - You do a thing and that's what you are. Like I've been a cabbie for thirteen years. Ten years at night. I still don't own my own cab. You know why? Because I don't want to. That must be what I want. To be on the night shift drivin' somebody else's cab. You understand? I mean, you become - You get a job, you become the job. One guy lives in Brooklyn. One guy lives in Sutton Place. You got a lawyer. Another guy's a doctor. Another guy dies. Another guy gets well. People are born, y'know? I envy you, your youth. Go on, get laid, get drunk. Do anything. You got no choice, anyway. I mean, we're all -----. More or less, ya know.

2) So there's this guy Walsh, do you understand? He's tired of screwin' his wife... So his friend says to him, "Hey, why don't you do it like the Chinese do?" So he says, "How do the Chinese do it?" And the guy says, "Well, the Chinese, first they screw a little bit, then they stop, then they go and read a little Confucius, come back, screw a little bit more, then they stop again, go and they screw a little bit... then they go back and they screw a little bit more and then they go out and they contemplate the moon or something like that. Makes it more exciting." So now, the guy goes home and he starts screwin' his own wife, see. So he screws her for a little bit and then he stops, and he goes out of the room and reads Life Magazine. Then he goes back in, he starts screwin' again. He says, "Excuse me for a minute, honey." He goes out and he smokes a cigarette. Now his wife is gettin' sore as hell. He comes back in the room, he starts screwin' again. He gets up to start to leave again to go look at the moon. She looks at him and says, "Hey, whats the matter with ya. You're screwin' just like a Chinaman!"

3) What sick ridiculous puppets we are / and what gross little stage we dance on / What fun we have dancing and ------ / Not a care in the world / Not knowing that we are nothing / We are not what was intended.

4) I don't want to talk about those things. I see the worst in people. I don't need to look past seeing them to get all I need. I've built my hatreds up over the years, little by little, Henry... to have you here gives me a second breath. I can't keep doing this on my own with these... people.

5) Oxygen gets you high. In a catastrophic emergency, you're taking giant panicked breaths. Suddenly you become euphoric, docile. You accept your fate. It's all right here. Emergency water landing - 600 miles an hour. Blank faces, calm as Hindu cows

6) Once upon a time there was this person named Malcolm. He worked with children. He loved it. He loved it more than anything else. And then one night, he found out that he made a mistake with one of them. He couldn't help that one. And he can't stop thinking about it, he can't forget. Ever since then, things have been different. He's not the same person that he used to be. And his wife doesn't like the person that he's become. They barely speak anymore, they're like strangers. And then one day Malcolm meets this wonderful little boy, a really cool little boy. Reminds him a lot of the other one. And Malcolm decides to try and help this new boy. 'Cause he feels that if he can help this new boy, it would be like helping that other one too

7) Terns? Mmh. If I help you, (characters name), it will be "turns" with us too. Quid pro quo. I tell you things, you tell me things. Not about this case, though. About yourself. Quid pro quo. Yes or no?

8) Keaton always said, "I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze.

9) I ain't no white trash piece of ----. I'm better than you all! I can out-learn you. I can out-read you. I can out-think you. And I can out-philosophize you. And I'm gonna outlast you. You think a couple whacks to my guts is gonna get me down? It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than that, Counselor, to prove you're better than me!

10) No sir, YOU are the caretaker. You've always been the caretaker. I ought to know: I've always been here - 23806
