Pointed Outlines Of A Varied Collection Of Films

By Clayton Townsend

The following paragraphs contain some nice movie reviews. Here are some ways to find movie download sites. To get some good sites try to search phrases like "Movie Download Services", "Full Movie Downloads", or "New Release Movie Rentals".

The Age of Innocence: In'70s NY, well-bred youthful guy (Day-Lewis), who plans to wed well bred youthful female (Ryder), is infatuated by infamous beauty (Pfeiffer) with a notorious background and a self sufficient soul. Sumptuous adaptation of Edith Wharton's Pulitzer Prize novel in reference to censored sentiments in a close minded world. Cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, Richard E. Grant, Alec McCowen, Geraldine Chaplin, Mary Beth Hurt, Miriam Margolyes, Sian Phillips, Michael Gough, Alexis Smith, Norman Lloyd, Jonathan Pryce, Robert Sean Leonard, and Carolyn Farina depicted by Joanne Woodward. (133 minutes,'93)

Buck Privates: An out dated but engaging Army opus with Bud and Lou inadvertently registering for the army. Brassy melodies (containing the Andrews Sisters "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy") and subplots get in the way; however A&C's regimens are some of their best in their first feature film. Cast includes Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Lee Bowman, Alan Curtis, The Andrews Siblings, Jane Frazee, Nat Pendleton, and Shemp Howard. (84 minutes,'41)

The Indian Runner: A temperamental piece in reference to a youthful gentleman's efforts to comprehend, and get closer to, his brother who's just returned from Vietnam. The film is lazy at times, however filled with feeling and reality, and is relatively moving. Hefty acting jobs all around, with unconventional although powerful projecting of Bronson as the boys' depressed dad. Cast includes David Morse, Viggo Mortensen, Valeria Golino, Patricia Arquette, Charles Bronson, Sandy Dennis, Dennis Hopper, Benicio Del Toro, and Kenny Stabler. (125 minutes,'91)

Cry Freedom: An empathetic film in dealing with the life of South African activist Steve Biko (well played by Washington) and his kinship with crusading newspaper editor Donald Woods (Kline). Regrettably the second half of film, minus the Biko personality, loses itself as it invests too much time on Kline as he and his family flees from South Africa. Cast includes Kevin Kline, Penelope Wilton, Denzel Washington, Kevin McNally, John Defrost, Timothy West, Juanita Waterman, John Hargreaves, Alec McCowen, Zakes Mokae, and Ian Richardson. (157 minutes,'87)

Sugar Cane Alley: A beautifully made, heartfelt drama in regards to an 11-year-old boy and his all sacrificing nana, getting by in a Martinique shantytown throughout the'30s. The film is a humanist drama of the highest request. Cast includes Precious Legitimus, Garry Cadenat, Routa Seck, Joby Bernabe, and Francisco Charles. (107 minutes,'84)

Blithe Spirit: A delectable adaptation of Noel Coward's comedy fantasy in regards to a guy whose long since passed first spouse appears to haunt and tease him in his recently wedded life. Rutherford is remarkable as Madame Arcati, the metaphysical medium. This film made an Oscar for its visual effects. Cast includes Rex Harrison, Constance Cummings, Kay Hammond, Margaret Rutherford, Hugh Wakefield, and Joyce Carey. (96 minutes,'45)

The Only Game in Town: This romance of a chorus girl and a gambler takes place in Las Vegas but was shot in Paris, and it definitely hurts the film. There is little action and the inside scenes slow pace of this delightful adaptation of Frank D. Gilroy's play. Beatty is phenomenal. Cast includes Elizabeth Taylor, Warren Beatty, Charles Braswell, Hank Henry, and Olga Valery. (113 minutes,'70)

Scandalous: A feather brained sham in regards to investigative TV journalist who runs afoul of a team of con artists as he tries to extricate himself from a homicide charge. Cast includes Robert Hays, John Giegud, Pamela Stephenson, and Jim Dale. (94 minutes,'84)

Delta Fox: An unremarkable action-based opus in regards to a smuggler on the run from Miami to L.A. Cast includes Richard Lynch, Priscilla Barnes, Stuart Whitman, John Ireland, and Richard Jaeckel. (92 minutes,'77)

Remember, nearly any film you can think of can be downloaded off the web these days. You can find movies like these at download sites, which you can find by searching "Downloadable Movie Sites" or "Downloadable Films" Add "Best Music Download Services" to the list if the other searches don't work for you. - 23806

A Selection Of Quality Motion Picture Reviews To View

By Sabrina Evans

For years now, the video store was the way to get movies. High speed internet access has now made it possible to download movies right off a movie download site. Just about any movie every made can be attained through a movie download site now. Check out these samples.

I Want to Go Home: Lyrical author-actor Green plays a compulsive American cartoonist who voyages to Paris for an art show and to see his alienated daughter Benson. Depardieu, an exuberant admirer, brings him to his mom's country home for the weekend. Written by Jules Feiffer, with a score by John Kander, this Franco-American curio is appallingly poor. Cast includes Adolph Green, Gerard Depardieu, Linda Lavin, Laura Benson, Micheline Presle, and Ludivine Sagnier. (101 minutes,'89)

The Night of the Following Day: Excellent cast makes this sordid story of a young gal's abduction somehow more fascinating than it should be; pretty coarse in spots. Cast includes Marlon Brando, Richard Boone, Rita Moreno, Pamela Franklin, Jess Hahn, and Gerard Buhr. (93 minutes,'69)

Basic Instinct: Detective Nick Curren is investigating a murder. Sexy and famous author Catherine Tramell is becoming a prime suspect. She lures him into a torrid love affair. Now he struggles to resolve her guilt or innocence in the case.

Dracula's Daughter: A Spanish language adaptation of the terror classic was filmed simultaneously with the Hollywood rendition on the identical sets although much of the orchestrating and camerawork are actually better in this Spaniosh version! Other chief variance: the ladies are outfitted more provocatively. All that's missing is a performer with the appeal of Lugosi in the lead role. Cast includes Carlos Villar Villarias, Lupita Tovar, Pablo Alvarez Rubio, Barry Norton, Eduardo Arozamena, Carmen Guerrero, and Manuel Arbo. (103 minutes,'31)

Trading Mom: It's about three siblings who couldn't stand their mom. Spacek cast a spell which makes her, and all memory of her vanish. This is a flat and inanimate story with meager production values. Cast includes Sissy Spacek, Anna Chlumsky, Aaron Michael Metchik, Asher Metchik, Maureen Stapleton, and Merritt Yohnka. (82 minutes,'94)

The Man in the Iron Mask: Handsome retelling of the reliable Alexander Dumas story of a guy unreasonably imprisoned and encased in an iron mask-since his very existence challenges the reigning baron of France, the youthful, self-centered Louis XIV. The destiny of both are eventually in the hands of the aging although still enthusiastic Musketeers. It could be difficult to miss with that cast; the film is relatively enjoyable, however it does go on too long. Cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Gerard Depardieu, Peter Sarsgaard, and Hugh Laurie. (132 minutes,'98)

Shadowlands: Based on the story of British author C. S. Lewis the Lion, The Sorcerer and the Closet whose content is of the hard life he had as an Oxford man in the'50s. He is rattled by his meeting with a forthright American poet. The film is knowledgeable and moving, with Hopkins in top form and Winger his match. The other performers are also excellent. This was filmed on location at Oxford. Cast includes Richard Attenborough, Anthony Hopkins, Debra Winger, Edward Hardwick, Michael Denison, Joseph Mazzello, John Wood, Robert Fleming, and Peter Howell. (130 minutes,'93)

Natural Born Killers: Mary Mallory is a teenager with an abusive father. After falling in love with Mickey, they viscously murder Mary's parents. Now they are on the run along Rt. 666. As they run, they go on killing sprees, usually leaving one person alive that can recount the events. As time continues they become a media sensation, almost national heroes.

Live Free Or Die Hard: The U. S. is under attack. A criminal mind is attacking the system with modern techniques. It is now up to Detective John McClane and brilliant computer hacker Matt Farrell to find and stop whoever is doing the attacking.

Netflix The Right Movie Choice

By Rich Vial

There are many advantages and disadvantages to being a member of Netflix as with any other movie rental service. In my personal opinion, the advantages definitely over ride the disadvantages when it comes to Netflix. Being able to view more movies than I imagined is something I love about Netflix. So you may wonder why I think Netflix is so wonderful.

Well, if you are considering joining Netflix, I will give you even more reasons in this article. Netflix has an astronomical amount of movies to choose from. Have you ever went to a movie store and walked around looking for a movie until you became utterly frustrated with the available selection? You would love to watch an interesting movie but aren't having any luck finding one. Well, just think, if you join Netflix you can simply type in your title or complete a search, and your movie selection is right at your fingertips.

Netflix is very convenient and simple to use. By using this service, there are no trips needed to the movie store. The movies now come to me instead. Once I pick out the movies I want to watch, I have nothing else to do except wait for the movies to arrive in my mailbox. Netflix is very inexpensive in comparison to movie store rentals. If I were to rent as many movies at a movie store as I have at Netflix, I would go broke. I can watch more movies at an even lower price. Netflix permits you to enjoy a free trial period of-- days. If you are not positive you want to join, you can take advantage of this free trial period. If after your-- days you are not satisfied, the only thing you need to do is cancel your subscription.

By subscribing to Netflix, you are allowed to download movies onto your personal computer. Even more interesting, you can also purchase products which will allow you to stream movies directly to your own TV. By doing this, you have no waiting period. The only disadvantage is that the selection isn't as vast (even though it is growing). I envision Netflix being the online movie download site in the future. Your movies will arrive very quickly when renting from Netflix. Netflix now has 47 shipping centers within the United States. Typically, you should receive your movie within one business day. This is much faster than other movie rental services on today's market. Have you ever rented movies and realized that one of the movies had a particular scene missing? Well, that's because you just watched an edited version of that movie. Netflix never edits any of their movies. All of their movies are always unedited.

Netflix is also a social network. In a way, it is kind of like Myspace, but for movies instead. You can view what other movie lovers are watching, you can connect with other lovers of movies, and make suggestions, etc. Access to other movie lovers is right at your fingertips. Netflix takes your children into consideration. Your children can log in to Netflix and select the movies they would like to watch. After that, the parent can then block or edit the types of movies selected. This is a wonderful prevention tool in keeping children from watching inappropriate movies. You will never pay a late fee with Netflix. You never have to worry about your movie being returned on time. You can keep your movie for as long as you would like. While Netflix doesn't claim to be perfect, it is still one of the largest movie rental services on the market. If you are thinking about joining Netflix, I certainly hope this article assisted you with seeing how fun and convenient. Netflix can really be. Just think, your movies could actually be in your house tomorrow by joining Netflix today. - 23806
