Fans Will "Self Destruct" If 50 Cent Delays Again

By Patrick Daniels

With a style as unique as he is, notably one of the best rap artists of all times, has finally released his newest album, Before I Self Destruct. Originally scheduled for release in time for Christmas 2008, the delay in the release date is just making fans anticipate the release of this 50 Cents fourth and possibly his best album to date.

Many have often criticized the rapper for being to similar to others in this genre of music, however those that truly know and understand his music can argue this point as untrue. 50 Cent has lyrics that are more of a social commentary on the worlds, meant to evoke feelings and get his fans excited. Although some say he goes past his point in the lyrics, others believe that he is just expressing freedom of speech and that it is the underlying message that is most important.

No matter what your feelings towards the rapper, it can not be denied that his music, even the G rated versions, are some of the best songs out there. His latest, most anticipated release, Before I Self Destruct, has been postponed for the past several months. Each time the album nears it's release date, they decide to push it back again. therefore fans are skeptical that it will actually release on the 30th of June, as scheduled.

When the original delay on the release occurred in November 2008, 50 Cent said it was because he wanted to get his singles into position and out there in the public forum, before releasing the album containing these singles; however there is some speculation that the delay has more to do with Eminem and Dr Dre as they both have pending albums as well that have progressively been leaking to the press, and they worked on much of their individual works on these albums as a combined effort.

Weather legitimate reasons or publicity stunt, the anticipation from fans continues to grows. As the June 30th date draws near, 50 Cent fans eagerly await the new album, hopefully it will stick this time. - 23806

Carrie Underwood: Making a Splash in the Country Music Scene

By Greg Shuey

Carrie Underwood had a life-changing experience that fateful day in 2005 when she won in the fourth season of American Idol. Since then, the Idol champ has enjoyed a very fruitful music career.

Her Idol win has paved the way for a string of successes for this Checotah-native who has instantly captured the competition's judges when she sang Bonnie Rait's "I Can't Make You Love Me" during her audition. Since getting the golden ticket to Hollywood, Carrie Underwood has not stopped hitting it high with her songs and eventually took the title of American Idol.

When she won, only one out of the three previous Idol winners has been successful. The first Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, was still enjoying the success brought mainly by her Idol exposure three years after she broke through the music scene. And even though two other winners have emerged-Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barrino-she is still the only Idol winner who has did well post-competition.

After she won, both Idol winners were clear front runners in the mainstream music scene. And each of the girls excelled in their respective fields. After her historic win, Carrie Underwood released her winning piece "Inside Your Heaven." That single did well in the charts. It was a good prelude to her debut album, Some Hearts, which included the song as a bonus track. She set a record with the release of Some Hearts. It debuted at the top of the Billboard Albums chart and stayed there for eleven weeks. It gave birth to hit singles like Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Wasted," "I Ain't in Checotah Anymore," and "Before He Cheats."

For a newbie in the music scene, Carrie Underwood was a pro. She managed to earn the respect of her colleagues with her music and talent. As a result, she won many awards from different organizations for her first single "Jesus, Take the Wheel." She received recognition from the CMT, Academy of Country Music, Gospel Music Association, Country Music Association, Billboard, American Music Awards, and the Grammys. Not bad for a newbie, right?

The release of her sophomore album Carnival Ride further solidified Carrie Underwood's superstar status. She proved that she is no one-hit wonder. With number one hits like "So Small," "All American Girl," "Last Name," "Just a Dream," and "I Told You So," she was able to prove the kind of talent and star quality she possesses.

Just when you think that things could not get any better for this country superstar, she was recently named by Forbes.com as the top earner out of all the other American Idol contestants. It was reported that she earned $14 million since June 2008. After four years, she has sold nearly 10 million albums and 10.7 million digital downloads. She has, once again, bested other Idol alumnus such as Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, Kellie Pickler and Chris Daughtry.

Looking at all the achievements she has acquired over the years, one can truly say that Carrie Underwood is enjoying the peal of success through her music. Her music has crossed borders. She done consistently well not only in the country music scene but in mainstream pop as well. This is truly a remarkable feat for a once-small-town-farm-girl. - 23806

Beatrix from The Movie Kill Bill

By Zachry Nest

Quentin Tarantino's movie "Kill Bill" & "Kill Bill 2" has been a worldwide hit and has amassed over 180 million dollars. This face smashing, sword swinging, jump kicking, action packed adventure of a movie has captivated millions of people. The story, the characters and the martial arts are world class.

The movie's star character is the deadly assassin, Beatrix Kiddo. Preformed by Uma Thurman, Beatrix is an unstoppable force that defeats every enemy she encounters. The blonde hair martial artist is a deadly assassin who is one of the top killers in all the world.

Beatrix is also a former member of a group called the 'Deadly Viper Assassination Squad' which is a group of top-notch, elite assassins. Bill who is the leader of the 'Dead Viper Assassination Squad' was Beatrix's best friend, master and girlfriend (lover).

Ms. Kiddo also acquired her martial arts skills from Bill. But she got her most deadly training from a super martial artist named Pai Mei. Pai Mei is possibly the best martial artist in the world and he teaches Beatrix everything he knows.

That also includes the most deadly blow in all of martial arts called the "Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique". When things went sour between Beatrix and Bill, she actually used the "Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique" to kill Bill. Among being a great martial artist in hand to hand combat, Kiddo is an expert with a samurai sword.

In the Kill Bill Movies, she was able to defeat countless enemies using only her Hattori Hanzo sword. Beatrix Kiddo goes by two different names in the Kill Bill saga. If you've seen the first movie, you will notice that her real name (Beatrix Kiddo) is actually censored. It wasn't until the second movie, you learn Beatrix's name.

While she was in the "Deadly Viper Assassination Squad", she was known as "Black Mamba", which is a very poisonous snake in Africa. As I mentioned earlier, Beatrix Kiddo is a former member of the "Deadly Viper Assassination Squad". The reason why she left the secret assassination unit was 100% due to her impregnation.

She didn't what her child exposed to the wicked lifestyle she was living. So without word to the other members of the squad, including Bill, she just left. As you see, Beatrix Kiddo's life is very complicated. She is purely a killer at heart and will do nearly anything to complete her missions. Even though I touched on many aspects about Beatrix, there is more I haven't even touched on. I guess the best thing you could do is watch the movies for yourself. - 23806

History of Drums Overview

By Amy Nutt

Throughout the history of human civilization, musical instruments have played an important role in shaping most cultures. These instruments have been used as a tool for communicating feelings and meanings. One instrument that has played a major role in musical history is the drum. When studying the history of the drum, one will discover its historical influence on many societies and cultures from around the world.

Drums emerged at almost the same time as Man. The origins of the drum is said to have occurred as early as in 6000 BC. Mesopotamian excavation teams discovered small cylindrical drums that dated back to 3000 BC. The American Indians used gourd and wooden built drums for their rituals and ceremonies. Early drums were made by hollowing out a log and tightly covering the hollowed section with a membrane.

Drums have been a very important influence on Africas culture and customs. They have been used in African religious ceremonies and rituals. Early African tribes used drums to express important meanings in their culture and practices. The drums made their way from Africa to America during the slave trade. African drums had a major influence on western rock and roll music. The early African rhythms still influence todays music.

When people realized they could play more than one drum at the same time, they began to play two or more drums simultaneously. Drum players began placing different drums together to develop a variety of beats and rhythms.

Cymbals and tom toms were invented in China. They were added to the various set of drums for new sounds and beats. Eventually chimes, wooden blocks, and cowbells were added to the musical mix. The famous Ludwig Drum Company is known to be one of the most important historical influences on the evolution of the drums. The Ludwig Drum Company was started by a young man who had a passion for playing the drums. He could not find a bass pedal that would keep up with his vigorous drumming technique. He searched every store and shop in an effort to locate a proper pedal, but could not locate one. He decided to make a bass pedal out of wood. The pedal turned out to be better than any other product on the market. With the help of his brother, Ludwig created a stronger metal bass pedal which was better than the wooden one. In 1909, The Ludwig Drum Company was created. By the 1930s, the drum kit had been born. The kit included a foot pedal and bass drum, snare, hi hat cymbal, tom toms, and large hanging cymbals.

During the 1950s, rock drummers became popular and they began expanding the drum kits by adding more cymbals and tom tom drums to the kits. This resulted in the modern drum kits we see today. Technology created the electronic drums which produced the sounds that standard drums could not create.

There have been many types of drum kits that contain a variety of drums and other drum accessories. Yamaha and Tama are two companies who have played a major role in shaping the drum that we see today.

Drums have played a major role with influencing the cultural evolution of music. The early methods and sounds of drums can be seen in todays drummer. Although new and innovative technology has improved drum sounds and provided a clearer and more accurate beat, todays new drummers still have to develop rhythm and drumstick techniques. Practice is still the best way to achieve excellent drumming skills. Imagination and innovative technology will certainly influence the future and diversity of the drum and its role in music. - 23806

RIAA And Its Role In Music Industry

By Susan Reynolds

RIAA is an abbreviation of Recording Industry Association of America. This association is a conglomerate of many large companies who cater to the recoding and music distribution all over the United States of America. It is estimated that more than 90% of the music recording ompanies and distributors are part of the conglomerate called RIAA. In the days of 1950's RIAA was primarily into the maintaining the quality of music. Today RIAA is mainly focused on into protection of copyright.

The change in priorities has taken place because of frequent unauthorized and illegal copy or download of music that has copy right restriction to it. The movement is presently conducted under Mitch Bainwol. In the 1990's Napster which was an an online music file sharing service was accessible and people downloaded any kind of music from it without any cost. They would freely download, burn and share music with friends. With the advance of computer technology the issue of copyright protection became more and more sharp.

The only course of action left to RIAA was to ban the online music sharing services like Napster. A legal framework was made to arrest such practices as music download. Strict laws were enacted in the early 2000 to prevent people from illegal download or even purchasing pirated CD's. Youth were specific targets of RIAA in order to restrict them from downloading music in violation of copyrights

RIAA has also taken to actively educate about its policies. It has paid specific attention to the youth population. It has conducted many seminars, forum discussions, and presentations in order to make youth aware of RIAA's set ofrules and guidelines. To achieve this goal RIAA has approached many colleges and universities to help them in the matter. As a result universities and colleges have on their part have taken care to not only to educate their students but also making sure that no illegal music downloaded inside the university or college premises.

RIAA has also been blamed by opponents for its lawsuits against blameless people. Lawsuit filed against a kid of age about 12, an aged woman nearly 83 years in age and one against a woman in her 60's who could hardly use computer have been cited as example of high handedness. Credibility of RIAA has suffered big erosion on account of such actions.

RIAA approves of latest tools and technologies which are emerging in the market and which may help in promotion of piracy of music. The organization is of the opinion that it is the people who should be blamed for misusing technology instead of other way round.

Generally people are unsure of their feelings towards RIAA. Some are opposed to its actions and criticize it on many scores, but on the other hand there are many who welcome its efforts. In spite of a lack of consistent view about it amongst people in general it has to be accepted that in the last few years it has made remarkable progress.

Another area of activity by RIAA apart from copyright protection, is keeping track of sale of records. It also awards "Gold" or "Platinum" labels depending on the number of CDs sold. It may be summarized in the end that existence of RIAA has contributed much to keeping the business of music industry good and clean. - 23806
