Blind Date: Tiresome retread of all-too familiar farcical material by Blake Edwards. Yuppie Willis takes Basinger out on a pre arranged blind date, urged that she shouldn't have alcohol and instantly gives her champagne. This film is hilarious. This was Willis' featuring debut; guitarist Stanley Jordan makes a lyrical appearance. Cast includes Kim Basinger, Bruce Willis, John Larroquette, William Daniels, and Graham Stark. Airport: Weak, later Laurel and Hardy comedy. One conceivably excellent scene with dull-burn as director Kennedy doesn't meet his normal high standards. Cast includes Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Edgar Kennedy, Jacqueline White, Horace Stephen McNally, and Donald Modest. (67 minutes, 1943)

Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he's challenged by a "fantasy master," his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes, 1988)

Nightmare on Elm Street: A few teenagers find they're all having bad dreams about the same bad guy, scar faced Fred Krueger, a sort of ghost who can enter their dreams at will and attack them while they sleep. It's up to Nancy Langenkamp to try to stop Freddy Krueger. Cast includes Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, Allen Vincent, Blunt McHugh, and Arthur Edmund Carewe. (77 minutes, 1933)

Shooter: Retired Marine Corp Sniper Bob Lee Swagger is asked to come to Washington, to help track another sniper that will try to kill the President. What happens to him next is a total shock. The same US government people that he is helping are actually setting him up to take the fall for the assassination. He somehow escapes when he is shot, and is now on the run. He is also ready to fight back.

Above the Law: This is Steven Segal's breakout movie. He plays a Chicago Police man who takes matters into his own hands. As the title implies, he is 'above the law'. Across the Universe: A young English boy comes to the US to find his father. On his search he finds, and falls in love with an American girl. The tale has been remunerated and emphasized as long as can be remembered, however nothing could top this original, simple account with startlingly transparent footage that looks as if it was shot this morning. MacArthur: An intense look at the legend of the elaborate military chief throughout WW2 and the Korean War. Peck is phenomenal although the film doesn't hold the punch of Patton. Shadowlands: Based on the story of British author C. S. Lewis the Lion, The Sorcerer and the Closet whose content is of the hard life he had as an Oxford man in the 1950s. He is rattled by his meeting with a forthright American poet. The film is knowledgeable and moving, with Hopkins in top form and Winger his match. The other performers are also excellent. This was filmed on location at Oxford. Cast includes Richard Attenborough, Anthony Hopkins, Debra Winger, Edward Hardwick, Michael Denison, Joseph Mazzello, John Wood, Robert Fleming, and Peter Howell. (130 minutes, 1993)

A Cry in The Dark: The amazing true tale of Lindy Chamberlain, an Australian female implicated of killing her infant, in spite of her claims that the youngster was taken by a dingo (a wild Australian dog). Author-director Schepisi informs his tale with nearly documentary like actuality, eloquently assaulting the format of trial by story that made Chamberlain and her spouse the most maligned couple in Australia. Streep and Neill are heartbreakingly excellent. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Sam Neill, Bruce Myles, Charles Tingwell, Notch Tate, and Lewis Fitzgerald. (121 minutes, 1988)

Rocky 5: Rocky Balboa is back at it in the 5th installation of this never ending series of fight films following the rags to riches hero's entire career.
