Lindsay Lohan in the News

By Dylan Richkards

Lighting up screens at the age of 3, Lindsay should have been informed on the dangers of showbiz life. Ever since Lindsay moved to LA, she seems to be losing control of herself and moving in negative directions.

As a New Yorker, Lindsay's first gig was at three years old as a Ford model. After which she appeared in over 60 TV commercials until 1996. It was then that Lindsay first appeared as an "actress" on Another World.

Next on Lindsay list was a remake of the film the Parent Trap in 1998. It wasn't until 5 years later that she appeared in another major film, Freaky Friday. One year later, Lindsay moved to L.A. and things began to fall apart.

Lindsay liked the boys and it didn't take her long to pick a fight with Hillary Duff over heartthrob Aaron Carter. And later in 2004, Lindsay got into another feud with the Simpson sisters over Wilmer Valderrama from That 70's Show.

In the early part of 2005, Lindsay lost a lot of weight. Later Lindsay admitted that she was bulimic. She appeared in Mean Girls. I'm not sure if the Lindsay took the character home with her. But after this movie, she was now portraying a "mean girls" attitude.

Lindsay was in two car crashes in 2005, which was apparently caused by the paparazzi. In 2006 Lindsay was told that she was being unprofessional for showing up to work late a couple of times. While back in New York, Lindsay broke her wrist while clubbing with friends.

In December of 2006, Lindsay took part in some AA meetings. And the following year she was arrested twice for drunk driving charges. Lindsay was sentenced to an 18 month alcohol education program, a community service order as well as one day in jail.

Lindsay has been keeping a low profile lately and trying to keep busy filming her new movie "Labor Pains." Lindsay has been through a lot and hopefully she has learned the hard to discipline herself. - 23806

IMRadio Powers Up Small-Town Radio Station Deficiency

By Lilia Lukas

I live in a really small town, with very few choices in radio stations. Then I got myself searching on the Internet for online radio stations. There are a lot of options out there, but there is one that my friends and I really get excited about.

Our favorite IMRadio. Whenever we hang out, do our homework, or getting ready to go out, we make sure it is played in the background. The variety of music and sheer talent really make us stop and say, "That song is really awesome!"

You can choose from many stations. If I remember it correctly the last time I checked, it was like 450 and I really like it. It is somewhat similar to YouTube for Music where music artists can upload their song files, just like anyone can upload their videos on YouTube.

Living in a small town used to mean that we were behind the times as far as new music. But now, with IMRadio, we are able to hear the newest bands, freshest songs, and artists from all over the United States. We no longer feel like we are the country bumpkins who never get to hear the hottest music.

Since my friends and I are fond of rock music, we are happier about IMRadio since most of the songs there are considered rock. Without IMRadio, we will never have the opportunity to hear this number of cool artists. But come to think of it, when you compare these songs to those songs you that you hear on traditional radio and Top 40 charts, they really sound better. So much better!

There is a few band that really impressed us and we are definitely positive that they have a long way to go. The web site has an awesome feature on where the fans can communicate with their favorite bands. Although, we do not have any intention of forming long-term friendships or stalk the bands or anything. But it is such a kick to send a message, just to let them know that we are out there and love what they are doing.

When you go to IMRadio's home page and scroll down a bit, you will see a "Featured Bands" header with images that look like little CD covers. One of my favorite things to do is click on a random image and then start listening to a song by that artist. If I do not like the song, I just move on until I find a song that suits my taste. It's kind of like hitting the "seek" button on your car radio to hear what's playing on another channel before you decide what to listen to, only the music is edgier. - 23806

True Blood Is About The Characters

By Josephine Lim

Lafayette, the character in Charlaine Harris' second book is killed in the book, but is making big on screen in the Season Two of True Blood. "Lafayette is very small in the book," Ball comments. "Nelsan Ellis, the actor we cast, channeled something from somewhere that is kind of amazing.

I definitely knew Jason had to be a great character actor [Ryan Kwanten plays the role]. I think all the major characters I knew were going to be really, really strong and really, really compelling, but I think Nelsan is the one [who was most surprising] - I had no idea that that would happen."

In the future, when we get to other creatures that might appear, I don't want to do that same old stuff. What's important is the characters. The effects are just the shorthand to get us from one stage to another.

But we will never be about the effects. I mean, it's less interesting to me how [Bill's] face might change or what exactly are the mechanics of the fangs coming down - although we have really thought about that - than the fact that he's been alive for a hundred and seventy years, most of them as a vampire, and his wife and children, who he loved deeply, he outlived them.

He's outlived everybody. He's in a changing world and he's given up on the idea of having any sort of love in his life until he meets this girl. That to me is way more interesting than what [growing fangs] looks like. - 23806

Let Your Imagination Run Free with Where the Wild Things Are Checks

By Alan Plastin

As a child, were you a huge fan of Where the Wild Things Are? Do you now read that same book to your own children and encourage them to have adventures of their own? Are you looking for ways to make your personal bank checks more exciting and adventurous? If so, then you might want to think about getting Where the Wild Things Are personal bank checks. It's not as expensive and time consuming as you might think.

Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's book written by Maurice Sendak. Since its original publication, it has been adapted into a feature film, an opera, and an animated short film. As of 2008, the book has sold over 19 million copies around the world, making it one of the most popular children's books of all time.

The story is relatively simple at first glance. It starts off with a young boy, Max, who gets in trouble and is sent to bed without any dinner. While in his room, a wild forest and sea grow out of his imagination and he is taken to the land of the Wild Things. There, although the Wild Things appear vicious, Max is made their king. He has many adventures with them and although his time is exciting, he soon becomes homesick and lonely. When he returns to his bedroom, his supper is waiting for him.

As a child, it was fun to imagine that you could be taken on an adventure, without having to leave your own bedroom. Not only were the illustrations fun and fanciful, but the idea of being able to come home to a hot supper after having such a thrilling time offered comfort and safety, too.

While your childhood days might be behind you, your imagination still plays an important part in your life. Now you can still follow your own imagination and let it take you on a quest with Max to the land of the Wild Things. When you buy these exciting checks, your checkbook will never be dull again. You can also purchase coordinating address labels as well as a matching checkbook cover to go along with them.

Ordering personal bank checks is not as expensive or as time consuming as it used to be. These days, you no longer have to go to your local bank and sift through a limited variety of checks that you may or may not be interested in. Now, if you order your checks online you can not only have a multitude of checks to choose from, but you can also save as much as 50% off the cost of the checks that your bank might have charged you.

When you buy your checks from a safe site not only are you saving money, but you're saving time, too. Just keep in mind that you need to have your routing number and checking account number available as they will have to be printed directly you're your checks themselves. - 23806

Watch Summer Camp the Documentry

By Lonnie Lorenz

Overnight Summer Camp A tradition that over 10 million children participate in every summer Memories of , s'mores, mosquitoes, sailing, summer romance, pranks and much more. Yet most of the summer camp movies clearly have a less than wholesome appeal. When watching them you clearly would not want your child to attend. That is until the Summercamp!the movie came to the screen. This move is a documentary that lets parents take an inside look at the coed summer camp swift nature camp located in the northwoods of wisconsin.

"Summercamp!" knows the camp experience is eternal and the same for everyone: Sunsets over the lake are generic only when not seen from your own bunk. With its gently anarchic indie-pop score by the Flaming Lips, the film nods toward the timelessness that's one of the best aspects of camp -- no laptops or Gameboys at Swift, thank you -- but it also notes where the modern world intrudes. A lot of the boys and girls discuss their ADHD medication, while a counselor scoffs that happily exhausted kids don't need pills: "If your kid's acting crazy, it's not because he had too much sugar, it must be ADHD, let's go pump him full of drugs."

This sweet movie follows a handful of campers struggling with daily life. There's Holly, who is obsessed with chickadees and often sad, why is revealed at the end of the film; Spencer, who is like a little wise man; and Cameron, boy who has dificulty reacting with others, yet wants to have more friends.

This is what folks are saying about the SummerCamp movie:

Summercamp! is a peek at what summer camp is really like for normal American Children, but it's honesty and its heart are ultimately what take it beyond mere documentation and into intimate and well-done documentary storytelling.

For those who enjoyed the camping experience as a youth, the movie, with its marshmallow roasts, canoe rides and talent shows, offers a bit of nostalgia. Others may find the whole thing a little pointless.

The children's fears and strengths surface on day 1. As the kids work their way around for 3 weeks it is interesting to see how children try to cope with the experience of being away from their home. The friendships made, the skills learned and the action taken.
