A Variety Of Straightforward Hollywood Movie Plot Lines

By Jaime Skinner

It wasn't that long ago that a trip to the corner video shop was the most convenient way to get a movie. These days you can stay at home and get movies from a movie download site. You will find just about any movie you want with a good movie download site, below is a small sample.

Live Fetish: Infatuated child of a prostitute is incarcerated for unintentionally shooting and paralyzing a cop throughout. Originally beaming story of man teenager's identity emergency gets to be ponderous while it turns into a mom -child soap opera with incestuous implications. Cinematically stimulating, albeit, with a bravura finale. Cast includes Pedro Almodovar, Liberto Rabal, Francesca Neri, Javier Bardem, Angela Molina, Jose Sancho, and Penelope Cruz. (100 minutes, 1997)

The Hunt For Red October: The Red October has gone missing. The state of the art Soviet Nuclear Submarine is built to be a first strike attack sub. Is the captain of the sub a renegade about to attack the United States, or is something else going on here?

The Last Time I Committed Suicide: Mordantly stylized, stereotype-encumbered tale of beat writer Neal Cassidy ostensibly based on a letter he once inscribed to Jack Kerouac. Completely unsympathetic, angst-filled characters are set to even better disadvantage by a jumpy camcorder and abrasive lighting. Cast includes Thomas Jane, Keanu Reeves, Adrien Brody, John Doe, Claire Forlani, Jim Haynie, Marg Helgenberger, and Lucinda Jenney. (93 minutes, 1997)

Tequila Sunrise: Mac Mckussic is a drug dealer trying to go straight. His best friend Nick Frescia is now a cop. Things get even more complicated when the two fall in love with the same woman, Ann. How will these two friends resolve their problems?

Gus: Football kicking mule catapults a last-place team to success; crooks try to abduct Gus with typical outcomes like dry pursue in an anticipation thriller. Cast includes Edward Asner, Don Tangles, Gary Dirties, Tim Conway, Freedom Williams, Dick Minivan Patten, and Dick Butkus. (96 minutes, 1976)

Trading Places: Fine cast inhales life into timeworn comedy premise keep in mind those 3 Stooges briefs? This movie is testing heredity vs. atmosphere by switching a "have" preppie Aykroyd and a "have-not" road hustler Murphy. Murphy, in his second film, is a joke powerhouse, and makes up for controller Landis' pleasures like a subplot engaging a horny gorilla. Cast includes Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Ralph Bellamy, Don Ameche, Denholm Elliott, Kristin Holby, Al Franken, Tom Davis, and Bill Cobbs.(116 minutes, 1983)

Ed Wood: An admiring check out Edward D. Wood, Jr., a guy of endless excitement and no ability who made some of the poorest films of all time containing Glen or Glenda and Plan Nine Outer Space. There isn't much tale shove here, although the lucid re-creation of time and place makes this a must for some old movie buff. Cast includes Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker, Patricia Arquette, Jeffrey Jones, and Mike Starr. (124 minutes, 1994)

Holiday: First rendition of Philip Barry's play in reference to non-conformity is a delightful astonishment; an untidy early talkie with projecting that in some cases Astor, Owsley even tops the more renowned 1938 rendition. Horton plays the identical role in both films. Cast includes Ann Harding, Robert Ames, Mary Astor, Edward Everett Horton, Hedda Basket, and Monroe Owsley. (96 minutes, 1930)

Good Guys Wear Black: Norris hops hoofs first through a windshield and bullies to reorganize the face of bellman Backus-all in the name of nationwide security. Stupid partisan paranoia thriller passes time effortlessly enough. Cast includes Ditch Norris, Anne Archer, James Franciscus, Lloyd Haynes, Dana Andrews, and Jim Backus.(100 minutes, 1979)

Track of the Cat: Tennessee Williams meets American midevil in this unusually abrasive drama in regards to a home filled with bitterness, remorse, and envy, and how the search for a killer cougar changes the dynamics of the family. Cast includes Teresa Wright, Tab Hunter, Diana Lynn, Beulah Bondi, Philip Tonge, William Basket, and Carl (Alfalfa) Switzer. (102 minutes, 1954)

Ruby's Fantasy: Smooth although typical drive-in fare in regards to a shell-stunned Vietnam vet who finds himself the object of an enormous manhunt in a small Alabama town. It is the same elementary tale as First Blood which came later. Cast includes Linda Blair, Ben Johnson, Matt Clark, and Richard Famsworth. (91 minutes, 1982)

Rhapsody in August: Average (by his estimations) little Kurosawa piece in reference to the hurtful rememberings of a Japanese woman who recollects the bombing of Nagasaki at the end of WW2. Gere, in a hyped up cameo, doesn't appear too out of place as a Japanese American member of the old lady's lengthened family. Cast includes Sachiko Murase, Richard Gere, and Narumi Kayashima. (98 minutes, 1991)

The Sea Hawk: Top of the line amalgamation with Flynn at his streaking best in venture on the high oceans. The film has a vigorous balance of piracy, romance, and swordplay, handsomely shot, and orchestrated with exciting Erich Wolfgang Komgold score. Cast includes Errol Flynn, Brenda Marshall, Claude Pours, Donald Crisp, Flora Robson, Alan Hale, Henry Daniell, Una O'Connor, Gilbert Roland, and Edgar Buchanan. (127 minutes, 1940)

The Hi-Lo Country: Tale of 2 men in post-WW2 New Mexico who fall in love with the identical lady and she's already married to someone else. A tribute to the dude way of life and the delights of real kinship, this film has so much going for it (containing Harrelson's wonderful behavior as a hell-raiser and Oliver Stapleton's cinematography) that it's a pity it doesn't hit the bull's-eye and Arquette is so boring. Cast includes Woody Harrelson, Billy Crudup, Patricia Arquette, Sam Elliott, Cole Hauser, Penelope Cruz, Darren Caves, Jacob Vargas, James Gammon, Lane Smith, and Katy Jurado. (114 minutes, 1998)

Good Sam: Virtually complete misfire, regardless of cast and director. Cooper is an incurable good guy in this inanimate comedy. Cast includes Gary Cooper, Ann Sheridan, Ray Collins, Edmund Lowe, Joan Lorring, and Ruth Roman. (113 minutes, 1948)

Lydia: Emotional story of older female (Oberon) meeting her prior beaux and recaIling their courtship. Cast includes Merle Oberon, Edna Might Oliver, Alan Marshal, Joseph Cotten, Hans Yaray, and George Reeves. (104 minutes, 1941)

The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set Review

By Henry J. Jamison Jr.

Lots of Beatles fans own all of The Beatles albums on CD already and are probably thinking long and hard over whether or not it's really worth buying all of their albums on CD again because they've been remastered and repackaged.

The appeal of The Beatles Mono Box Set is easier to understand. This is the first time these mono mixes have ever been released on CD and in the case of mono version of The White Album, it's the first time it has ever released in the US in any format.

Sound quality is the big draw with The Beatles Stereo Box Set but you don't have to be an audiophile to appreciate the improvement in sound quality. The improvement is so obvious that sometimes it almost sounds like the songs have actually been remixed as well as being remastered ("Long Long Long" is a great example of this huge improvement.)

One way to explain this improvement in sound quality to someone who has the old Beatles CDs and doesn't hear anything wrong with them is to compare it to going from DVD to Blu-Ray when watching a movie. DVD is OK, but Blu-Ray looks fantastic! This is the best music of all time, don't you think it deserves to be heard in all of it's true glory?

But with music I think sound clarity is even more important than video clarity is to a movie. Why? Because with a movie you can still follow the plot and know what's going on just the same whether or not it's perfectly clear or not. But with music, the added clarity can actually allow you to hear parts in the music that you may have missed when it wasn't as clear.

When listening to The Beatles in Stereo CDs I hear all kinds of little details in their songs that I never heard before, even though I've listened to all of their songs hundreds of times!

They worked on these getting these remasters just perfect for years and all of that work has definitely paid off because they managed to do something which is very difficult which is to keep the original analog sound of the tapes while also improving upon the clarity of the music.

The most obvious improvement in the sound is with the bass and the drums. With the old CDs the bass and drums were too often buried in the mix. Not anymore. Now they propel the songs forward as they were intended to.

There were a lot of potential mistakes that they could have made when doing these remasters. They could have taken part in the "loudness wars." They could have taken out all of the analog ambiance that helps give the music it's "life." They managed to avoid all of the mistakes and really do The Beatles music justice. They've never sounded better before. - 23806

On Golden Pond: Fonda, in his last film, is no less than radiant as crochety retired professor Norman Thayer, Jr., furious at being 80 years old and frightened of losing his mind. Cast includes Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Doug McKeon, Dabney Coleman, and William Lanteau. (1009minutes, 1981)

The Last Seduction: Pathologically malevolent and stunningly sensual female ditches her spouse, snatches the money he's made in a drug deal, and escapes N.Y.C. to a tiny upstate town where she allures and bewilders a local gentleman who becomes her latest patsy. Fiorentino's spicy femme fatale makes Stanwyck in Triple Indemnity look like Snow White! The movie is a scorching, seductive thriller from contemporary film noir master Dahl and author Steve Barancik. Cast includes Linda Fiorentino, Peter Berg, J. T. Walsh, Bill Nunn, Bill Pullman, Michael Raysses, and Zach Phifer. (110 minutes, 1994)
