A tribute to the dude way of life and the delights of real kinship, this film has so much going for it (containing Harrelson's wonderful behavior as a hell-raiser and Oliver Stapleton's cinematography) that it's a pity it doesn't hit the bull's-eye and Arquette is so boring. Cast includes Woody Harrelson, Billy Crudup, Patricia Arquette, Sam Elliott, Cole Hauser, Penelope Cruz, Darren Caves, Jacob Vargas, James Gammon, Lane Smith, and Katy Jurado. (114 minutes, 1998)

Semi-Tough: Carefree comedy in reference to 2 football megastars and their reciprocal lady friend drifts too much to hit some chief points however it does have some ludicrous minutes. Reynolds' charm makes up for film's other deficiencies. Cast includes Burt Reynolds, Kris Kristofferson, Jill Clayburgh, Robert Preston, Bert Convy, Lotte Lenya, Roger E. The Pajama Game: Adaptation of the Broadway lyrical hit with much of its cast intact essentially interprets the word "exuberance." Day is a pleasure as the head of a plant complaint agency that impulsively falls in love with the new foreman (Raitt, in his only featuring film). Richard Adler and Jerry Ross' melodies contain "Hey, There." Dancer Haney stands out in her "Mist Heat" characteristic and in the lively "Once a Year Night" barbeque number. Cast includes Doris Day, John Raitt, Carol Haney, Eddie Foy, Jr., Barbara Nichols, and Reta Shaw. (101 minutes, 1957)

Crusoe: Dense rendition of the oft-filmed Defoe classic, with Quinn cast as the title personality, a servant dealer who's shipwrecked on a defected isle, where he must handle loneliness, seclusion, survival. The most captivating of all is his growing relation with black combatant Sapara. Cast includes Aidan Quinn, Ade Sapara, Warren Clark, Hepburn Grahame, Jimmy Nail, Tim Spall, Michael Higgins, Shane Rimmer, and Oliver Platt. (91 minutes, 1988)

The King of Comedy: Pungent black comedy in reference to a show business hanger-on and total loser who cherishes America's top Television comic talk show host and computes out a weird plan to get some air time. He is needed as they are going into the deep forest to hunt the kidnapper down.

The Eagle and the Hawk: Contrived action movie set in 1860s Mexico-Texas with O'Keefe and Payne U.S. ordinance enforcers restraining coup to make Maximilian ruler of Mexico; Fleming is fetching love interest. Cast includes John Payne, Rhonda Fleming, Dennis O'Keefe, Thomas Gomez, and Fred Clark. (104 minutes, 1950)
