Tet Paisan: Early Rossellini classic, largely improvised by a mainly non professional cast. 6 vignettes portray life in Italy throughout WW2. The best has an American nurse looking for her lover in the rubble of Florence. Cast includes Cast includes Carmela Sazio, Gar Moore, Bill Tubbs, Harriet White, Maria Michi, Robert Van Loon, Dale Edmonds, Carla Pisacane, and Specks Johnson. (90 minutes,'46)
Believe in Me: Donovan moves to a tiny Oklahoma town in'64 to take a teaching job, although when he arrives he learns he's been assigned to coach the girls basketball team. What's more, the girls have no self respect and little help from the school. Genuine heartland tale ascends above its recognizable underdog recipe. Donovan and Mathis as his supportive spouse are first rate. Cast includes Jeffrey Donovan, Samantha Mathis, Bruce Dem, Bob Gunton, Heather Matarazzo, Alicia Lagano, and Chris Ellis. The Great Race: Long, occasionally ludicrous, often labored comedy, not the best ever made as promoted. Fight pattern and barroom fight are highlights, although the pie scene falls flat, and other gimmicks don't work. This is absolutely a mixed bag, some parts good and some bad. Cast includes Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, Jack Lemmon, Peter Falk, Keenan Wynn, Larry Storch, and George Macready. (150 minutes,'65)
China Girl: American photographer in the bizarre Orient throughout WW2 is background for incredible adventure story. Cast includes Gene Tierney, George Montgomery, Lynn Bari, Winner McLagen, Sig Ruman, Bobby Robert Cook, and Ann Pennington. (95 minutes,'42)
Passenger 57: Mastermind terrorist Charles Rane has hijacked flight 163. When they terrorist make their move, passenger 57, security expert John Cutter, is in the bathroom. When he comes out, he sees the situation, remains unseen, and plots to save the flight, and it's passengers.
Seizure: Rock's directorial debut is trendy although incoherent shocker in which novelist Frid, his family and buddies are made to play games of death by a trio of wicked weirdos who may or may not be his bad dreams coming to life. Cast includes Jonathan Frid, Martine Beswick, Christina Pickles, Joe Sirola, Herve Villechaize, Mary Woronov, and Troy Donahue. (93 minutes,'74)
Shooter: Retired Marine Corp Sniper Bob Lee Swagger is asked to come to Washington, to help track another sniper that will try to kill the President. What happens to him next is a total shock. The same US government people that he is helping are actually setting him up to take the fall for the assassination. He somehow escapes when he is shot, and is now on the run. He is also ready to fight back.
