2009: The Beatles Stereo Box Set
The Beatles Remastered Stereo CD Set was made available on September 9th of 2009 it instantly became the standard for The Beatles classic albums.
These new stereo mixes sound far better than the old CDs from the 1980s. When when I compare the remastered CDs to the older CDs it's like the older CDs are under a pile of blanks while the new CDs sound crystal clear so that all of the instrumentation and vocals push through the mixes instead of being swallowed up by whats around them.
The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Box Set isn't the only Beatles box set that came out in September 2009 but it has been the biggest seller since it appeals to the largest variety of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles in Mono Box Set is excellent too but it appeals more to Beatles purists who need to listen to the mono mixes (because that's how the albums were "meant to be heard") than to an music fan. Although there are definitely songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially some of the pre Sgt Pepper songs) all things considered I think the stereo CD box set does sound most fab.
The fantastic thing about The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set is that it allows you to buy The Beatles complete 1960s catalog with just one order and considering the extremely high quality of all of their LPs, it makes the most sense to buy them all at one time rather than just picking up some and then getting more later.
And beyond the wonderful ground breaking music included in this set there are some cool visual parts, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with the documentary DVD there are extensive liner notes for every album (there is some good information in there, particularly for fans that are new to The Beatles) and some great previously unpublished pictures.
I am such a big Beatles lover that I've got (or am planning on ordering) The Beatles in Stereo Box, The Beatles in Mono Box Set, The Beatles USB Memory Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Game. But if I had to choose just one of these things, it would be the complete stereo box because it's the best hear their legendary albums and after all, it is the classic albums that matters most. - 23806
