Defenseless: Anticipation thriller in which lawyer Hershey finds her customer ~d lover killed-and finds herself not only speculated of the offense, although stalked by a bizarre slaughterer. Not poor, and a excellent showcase for a first-rate cast, particularly Hurt, who gnaws the landscape in a change-of-pace part. Cast includes Barbara Hershey, Sam Shepard, Mary Beth Hurt, J. T. Walsh, Kellie Overbey, and Sheree North. (104 minutes, 1991)
Roll Bounce: A group of skate-admiring adolescents on Chicago's South Side have to demonstrate their selves to the snobs on the other side of town while their local skating rink closes, all when facing the pleasures and pangs of growing up. As craze-based coming of age films go, this is a dent or two underneath Saturday Night Fever and an advancement over Roller Boogie.
