An Incomplete List Of The Greatest Car Films
Americans have long had a love affair with their cars, and of course, we all like films too. There have been a couple of car films that have become classics, as much for the cars as for the movie. While any lists of the "greatest" will always miss someone's favorite, here are a few movies with some remarkable cars.
From the year 1968- Bullitt. Starring Steve McQueen and Jacqueline Bisset, directed by Peter Yates. This film features one of the greatest car chases in movie history in a police/action suspenseful story. Also features a "must see" 390 GT Mustang and a Dodge Charger 440 Magnum.
The original and some say the finest one, from 1974 - Gone in 60 Seconds. Featuring "Eleanor" a yellow 1973 Ford Mustang and another one of the greatest car chases in a 40-minute culmination to the film. Crash course on the fundamentals of pilfering cars. But don't forget the remake.
From 2000- Gone in 60 Seconds - starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie. Directed by Dominic Sena. Producer: Jerry Bruckheimer. With an all-star cast and crew this remake is not about the talents of the famous group of actors and crew but rather it is about the cars, speedy cars, stolen cars, wrecked cars. This one is just about the cars.
From 1981 and from 1984, The Cannonball Run and The Cannonball Run 2. An oddity company of characters and illicit street racing across the kingdom. They will do whatever thing to triumph.
From 1983 - Christine- An work out in horror starring a cool but mad 1957 Plymouth Fury. The account is from Stephen King, can't go amiss there.
Everyone's all-time favorite from 1973 - American Graffiti. Featuring an all-star cast before they became stars. Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Harrison Ford, Cindy Williams and Mackenzie Phillips. A bona fide and preferential classic about summer 1962.
And there is your short list, just a few of the greatest "car" movies. There are more and there will be more because we will always love our cars. - 23806
