Angels & Airwaves: No Weak Link In First Album
Years ago, when Tom, Mark, and Travis of Blink 182 announced that they were taking on an indefinite break, which translates to their splitting up, fans, including myself, felt frustrated and disappointed because it may be the last we'll hear from any of them. It felt wrong to see a band break up just when they are at their prime. But then, all hopes seem to come back when Tom announced his new band, Angels & Airwaves.
I didn't think that a new band, whether it is fronted by Mark, Tom, or Travis will sound as good as they did before simply because they sound good collectively. Their individual talents complement each other that's why they kept on producing great music. However, Angels & Airwaves proved they can prove themselves as a competent band when they released their first album We Don't Need to Whisper.
Tom proved that he is a formidable musician, armed with the right stuff to come out with good music regardless of which band he plays in. As the front man of the new band, his voice gave life to each of the tracks. He showcased his powerful vocals and gave gut-wrenching performances each time.
The mixture of good lyrics and good music makes this album great. You will enjoy listening to the amazing way the guitars and percussion were played by the band. The songs have nice rifts; the lyrics have relevance. All of these make for a great listening experience. Not bad for a first album.
Tom has headed a more serious path with regards to his music with Angels & Airwaves. Together with his new team, he has created a good album, something worth listening to. He has helped make very good music that speaks of relevant topics such as war, loss, hope, and space. The songs in the album are very good in their own way. Each has a life of its own. They do not disappoint.
The band really showed their knack for playing the instruments in the album. They have placed a lot of importance in their intros. In one of the tracks, Valkyrie Missile, the intro ran 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Distraction had a 1 minute and 9 second intro. They carefully arranged the technical aspect of the songs. Their rifts are timed perfectly; the tempo doesn't pick up until the time is ripe. The songs, whether slow- or quick-paced were meticulously composed.
But what makes the album memorable and very nice to listen to is its message. Tom's powerful vocals, which shift depending on the theme of the song, will haunt you and hit you where it should-the heart. Though the lyrics of the song tend to be repetitive at times and are not as great, it still helped make the album memorable. I guess you can also say that you have not heard Tom sing as good as he does in this album. His interpretation of the songs has made each track noteworthy.
After hearing what Angels & Airwaves has come up with, all doubts and worries about how this relatively new band will fare in the music industry will vanish. Through their talents, collaboration, and previous band experiences, they were able to come out with a great music. - 23806
