Muse Concert: Paper-slim although cute romantic comedy in reference to a cleaned-up '80s pop megastar (Permit) who's shown with a gigantic crack-getting to perform a primordial melody with a modern-day music megastar (Bennett) if he might only find a lyricist with whom he could work with. She appears in the doubtful individual of a ditzy lady who's assumed to take care of the plants in his N.Y.C. condo. Permit is at his best, throwing off a constant flow of ludicrous lines. The illustrated Man: Youthful drifter Driva meets tattooed guy Steiger, looking for the bizarre lady (Bloom), who "illustrated" his whole body. The drifter sees futuristic stories in three of the depictions, most of which include megastar Steiger and, or Bloom and Drivas. The film is a disheartening, dull-paced adaptation of tales from Ray Bradbury. Cast includes Rod Steiger, Claire Bloom, Robert Drivas, Don Dubbins, Jason Evers, Ton Weldon, and Christie Matchett. (103 minutes, 1969)
Sky jacked Sky West: This film takes an interesting look at a sub culture in Austin Texas. Like the beatniks of the 1950s and hippies of the 1960s these people have created their own subculture. They're loaded with opinions and notions, none of which they appear ready to act on. Shot in a free form fashion, and characterizing a big cast of nonprofessional entertainers. That's author-director Linklater as the youthful guy in the taxi. Cast includes Richard Linklater. (97 minutes, 1991)
Cheyenne Autumn: Spreading, choppy, although amusing John Ford Western, his last in regards to Cheyenne Indian tribe and its eventful voyage back to primordial settlement after being resettled by the government. This is Controller Ford's first film in Remembrance Valley. Avoid City pattern with Stewart as Wyatt Earp was cut after exclusive involvements. Cast includes John Ford, Richard Widmark, Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Dolores Del Rio, Sal Mineo, Edward G. Illuminata: Life, love, lust, and aspiration in a theatrical troupe in tum-of-the-2Oth century N.Y.C. al1hough the flavors are uniquely European. Playwright Turturro is in love with the corporation's megastar/supervisor, and longs to have her act his latest play. Energetic, even campy, roles for a fine cast kindle this excellent-looking however often lumbering production, which plays like a French charade in dull motion.
